Ceramic gifts for all occasions

V. JOSEPHINE
Oct 5:

CHECK out Jun Marketing if you are looking for special ceramic ware for occasions like weddings, corporate functions or even for decorating your home for the forthcoming festive season.

Located on the second floor of Maju Junction shopping mall, in Kuala Lumpur, it is now offering a variety of beautiful ceramic ware at a festive discount of 40 per cent.

The outlet sells a large selection of canister sets, tea sets, pitcher and bowls, clocks, frames, cherubs, bathroom accessories, kitchen and dining ware, wall hangings, lamp stands, fruit baskets, bells and many other home decor items with exclusive "Country Roses" and "Country Cottage" decals.

Owner Jun Lim said the moulds and decals were imported from England, and "fired" (a process to glaze the decals onto the designed moulds) and produced at a workshop in Subang Jaya.

"These unique decals, which bring life to the ceramic pieces, are exclusive to Jun Marketing in Malaysia. We also use 24-karat gold on the ceramic edges to give that rich look.

"Besides the 1,500 range of items, we also custom-make ceramics. We take orders in bulk for events like weddings and corporate functions where door gifts are made specially with names or selected wordings engraved on them as gifts," she said. There are also many unique functional and decorative ceramic items for the kitchen, dining area and the bathroom.

If customers want to custom-make items, they can have them delivered to their doorstep after seven days, depending on the number of items they have ordered. For bulk orders, an advance notice of three months is necessary.

Lim, who studied designing at the Malaysian Institute of International Designing at Chinatown (Petaling Street), said she came across this idea in a magazine and did research on the Internet.

Lim’s latest items include magnetic hand-painted ceramics, music boxes, and also converting ceramic dining plates into beautiful wall clocks or decorative pieces with "Jawi" and other interesting and personalised phrases for the home.

The prices of the products range from RM20 for mini cats, shoes, penguins, collector’s ducks to RM600 for the huge floor lamp.
