LIEW Choong Ching is exhibiting his second solo art exhibition at
Restaurant Hillside Corner Art Gallery, Wangsa Ukay, Bukit Antarabangsa,
in Kuala Lumpur until Feb 16.
This exhibition, entitled Voices Of Nature, displays 25 oil-on-canvas
paintings, priced from RM650 to RM8,000, that feature vibrant renditions
of landscape, frangipanis and flame of the forests.
Liew held his first solo entitled Strode 30 - From Figurative To
Landscape at Balai Berita in Jalan Riong, Kuala Lumpur, in May last year.
As a smalltown boy from Jerantut, Pahang, Liew spent a lot of his
childhood in the midst of indigenous people.
This eventually led to his first focus in art - the Orang Asli series.
He later captured the essence of life of the Malay fishing community.
When in Bali, he was impressed with the vibrant colours and Hindu
culture, and came out with a new series.
Liew, 32, graduated from the Kuala Lumpur College of Art and worked as a
graphic artist before painting full time since 1999.
He has participated in eight group exhibitions since 1993.
His works have been exhibited in Shah Alam Gallery, Bank Negara
Malaysia, Penang State Gallery, National Art Gallery, Metro Fine Art
Gallery, Elle Six Gallery, Townhouse Gallery, Citra Gallery and Hillside
Corner Cafe in Kuala Lumpur.
