MORE than 130 paintings on various medium are on display at the “National Day Art Exhibition 2006 — Keranamu Malaysia” at City Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur until Sept 8.
Held in conjunction with the nation’s 49th year of independence which fell yesterday, this is a joint exhibition by 128 Malaysian artists.
The paintings include water-colour, oil on canvas, acrylic, Chinese ink and mixed media offerings. They depict scenery, landscape, buildings, portraits, birds, fishes, still life and daily life.
This is the 17th time the gallery is organising an art exhibition in conjunction with National Day. Besides promoting the works of Malaysian artists, it also provides the opportunity for artists to demonstrate their patriotism and express their feelings for the country through their creative works.
Some of the participating artists are Wong Kean Choon, Tan Gaik Hoon, Abdul Rashid Yusof, Cheung Pooi Yip, Puah Kim Hai, Lee Sin Bee, S. Amin Shahab, Zaim Durulaman and Anna Stiffi Fardella.
City Art Gallery is situated on the ground floor of The Ampwalk, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
