Parties for all tastes

By Siti Nurbaiyah Nadzmi

IDEAS are free at the Bug’s Party. The question is, what sort of party would one like to have?

DELICIOUS: Shirley’s specialties are (clockwise from right) Thai-sauce chicken, braised duck, chicken curry and pork knuckles in black vinegar.

The shop is brimming with everything needed to create the right ambience for parties, ranging from dinosaur birthdays, scary Halloween nights to the pink princess tea party.

Owner C.L. Chan said the shop was for those who preferred to organise their own theme party without having to hire a party planner.

“We will advise them according to their budget and how to make the best out of it,” he said.

The shop has more than 20 ready themes for birthday parties, including popular merchandising such Nascar, Cars, Spongebob Squarepants, Strawberry Shortcake and Winnie the Pooh.

Each theme comes with matching table cloths, invitation cards, napkins, paper cups, plates and treat boxes. The pirate theme party comes with eye patches, swords and flags.

“We use high-quality products which are non-toxic and safe for younger children.

“Our candles and sparklers for cakes do not spew ash which can pollute the cake.”

Of course, there is a wide range of candles for cakes such as moulded characters, numerals, spirals and candles with glitter.

Balloons at Bug’s Party come in many shapes, sizes and quality.

One of them, is called the “air walker", which was a smiley with hands and weighted legs.

When the balloon is filled with helium gas, the entire rubber feature inflates into a one-metre-tall happy face, big enough to hold hands and walk with.

“We have several types of balloons. Some are printed with two colours which gives different effects, others are transparent or solid metallic colours with prints.”

The shop is also stocked with party games, glitters, confetti, swirling garlands and spray confetti, glow-in-the-dark items, party hair sprays and many more.

Located at 62A, Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/3, Taman Sutera Utama, Skudai, the shop is open from 9.30am to 6.30pm and closed on Sundays.
