'Modern hospital needed'

TANGKAK is urgently in need of a modern hospital. Tangkak assemblyman Goh Tee Tee said the old Tangkak hospital, which was built in 1912, could not meet the needs of the people.

He said seriously injured patients had to be referred to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar which is about an hour's drive away.

"The hour-long journey could result in more harm and pain to the victims.

"Many patients seek treatment at private hospitals in Malacca and Kuala Lumpur as the facilities in Tangkak hospital are inadequate.

We need a modern hospital that can provide healthcare and treatment for patients in Kundang Ulu, Sagil, Grisik, Bukit Gambir, Serom and other rural villages in the district."

He said the new hospital should be equipped with advanced equipment and technology.
