Old world charm of rail travel

The Ipoh Railway Stationwas completed in 1935 and designed by A.B.

Hubback, who was also responsible for the majestic Kuala Lumpur Railway Station.

These two pictures do not show the actual building itself, just the tracks.

In the above picture, the railway station was rather “basic” and the platforms resembled shacks. The handsome railway station building that we know now was not even built then.

The bottom picture shows the railway station today with its modernistic platform.

The “old” railway station building can be seen on the right. The Rawang-Ipoh double-tracking project is expected to be completed by the end of this year and the new railway station will be well-equipped to handle the traffic.
