PEOPLE’S MANDATE: Reps should focus on their duties

OVER the last few months, we Malaysians have been bombarded with contradictory views on a wide range of local issues.

Why, even the actual date of independence of this country had become a subject of controversy.

These people should realise that the ordinary Malaysian is fed up with the antics of certain individuals, be they from Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Rakyat or other organisations.

The people have given the mandate to BN to form the Federal Government and their wishes should be respected.
At the same time, five states, are now ruled by Pakatan Rakyat and this, too, reflects the aspirations of the rakyat.

So, to both the BN and PR leaders, I say: please take note that the people will not be hoodwinked with the political agenda of party leaders who are now more racialistic than before.

We, the people, have no problems with each other.

But we have problems with certain leaders who are overzealous in creating uneasiness among us.

The mandate has been clearly given by the rakyat on March 8 and let’s hope those elected will perform their duties without fear or favour.

Remember that in a democracy, the people are the boss.

Politicians are merely our representatives who have to carry out our wishes and aspirations. They should start taking notice that they are the servants of the nation.

That is what democracy is all about; by the people, from the people and for the people.
