WE refer to the letter "Still in the dark, three weeks later" (NST, May 9) from Tapsir Jaafar of Seremban regarding the publication of the names of beneficiaries in EPF members' account statements.
Our decision not to publish the names of the beneficiaries is based on feedback from Employees Provident Fund members, previous cases and in-house investigations. The confidential nature of such information influenced our decision.
Although no specific survey was carried out, it does not mean no studies were done on the subject. The EPF gets feedback from members through letters, emails, feedback forms and focus-group sessions.
In fact, since 2005, in an effort to keep up with members' needs and requirements, we have been holding focus-group sessions on an annual basis throughout the country.
We even sent questionnaires to targeted members on various matters related to the nomination of beneficiaries.
