SEREMBAN: Seremban Umno division chief Datuk Ishak Ismail denied any involvement in the arrests of two members of his division by the Anti-Corruption Agency for alleged money politics.
He said yesterday the cases of the two members should be left to the ACA to handle.
He was responding to the comments by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who is state Umno liaison committee chairman, t h at the arrests of the two were “too coincidental”.
Seremban Umno division vice-chief Mohd Nor Awang, 47, was arrested by the ACA on Aug 2 for allegedly giving RM700 to a branch chairman to nominate him for a top post.
He was charged in the Sessions Court on Tuesday.
On Sunday, Lenggeng State Assemblyman Mustafa Salim, 50, was arrested after he allegedly accepted RM2,000 from a contractor in Mantin for his help in an alleged sand-mining contract.
“Mohamad’s statement seemed to imply as if I was behind these cases,” Ishak said.
“How could somebody actually plan something like this?” Ishak said Mohamad should stop making such a statement.
