ALOR GAJAH: The MCA headquarters has not received any report of money politics in the run-up to the party elections, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan.
"Some people tell of money politics in the MCA but we have not received any report so far," he said after opening a hall in Kampung Baru Lendu here on Wednesday.
According to a Bernama report, Ong said the MCA Election Steering Committee would decide whether to ban the use of mobile communication devices during the elections.
"Johor MCA Youth had complained that a delegate took a picture of a ballot paper with his handphone during nominations for unknown reasons."
He said the ban was proposed to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
Asked whether he would contest the deputy president's post, he said he would announce his decision soon.
In Ipoh, Perak MCA deputy chairman Datuk Kong Cho Ha, who will contest for one of the four vice-president's posts, said: "After visiting most of the states including Perlis, Johor and Sabah, I decided to go for the post."
Kong has been a central committee member since 2004 and is a member of parliament for Lumut.
