GEORGE TOWN: A Hindu non-governmental organisation has called on the Home Ministry and the Film Censorship Board yesterday to ban the Hollywood movie, The Love Guru.
Malaysia Hindu Sangam deputy chairman P. Murugiah said: "The movie defames and hurts Hindus by poking fun at the Hindu religion."
He said the movie ridicules the faith and contains a false message about the tradition of Hindu spiritual advisers. He claims it also contains several scenes of near nudity, obscenities, and it mocks yoga.
"It is wrong for the movie to poke fun at the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus worldwide," Murugiah said.
The movie has been screened in local cinemas for about a week.
