KUCHING: A senior secondary school teacher was charged in court yesterday for the second time in about a month.
On Aug 1, Ahmad Iskandar Abu Samat, 43, was charged with cheating the government and state Education Department by making a false claim.
Yesterday, he was charged with presenting a false claim for organising a workshop for the state Education Department.
Ahmad Iskandar pleaded not guilty to presenting to the department's headquarters on Dec 11, 2006, an invoice for RM14,700 as the total cost for organising the workshop instead of an invoice for RM11,500.
Ahmad Iskandar, who was then an assistant director of education, organised the Bengkel Pembinaan Modul Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Mata Pelajaran Teras UPSR (Teaching module and learning UPSR subjects workshop) between Dec 5 and 9, 2006, at Bangunan RTM Kuching.
Sessions Court judge Alwi Abdul Wahab set bail at RM5,000 in two sureties pending hearing on Jan 12.

Ahmad Iskandar was represented by counsel Osman Ibrahim.
On Aug 1, Ahmad Iskandar, who was transferred to a secondary school early this year as a senior teacher, was charged in the magistrate's court with cheating the government and state Education Department of RM2,148 last year in organising a seminar held here between April 3 and 8, 2007, at Bangunan RTM Kuching.
The total cost of organising the seminar was said to be RM9,952, but he allegedly stated the amount as RM12,100.
He pleaded not guilty before magistrate Afidah Abdul Rahman who released him on RM5,000 bail in two sureties pending hearing on Sept 22.
