SEMENYIH: The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) will meet representatives of the Human Resources Ministry and the Bangladesh High Commission to work out ways to protect Bangladeshis from being exploited by employers here.
This follows reports that about 450 Bangladeshi workers have been left stranded here after they were promised jobs with good salaries.
A house in Taman Rinching, Semenyih, rented by the High Commission, is being used to provide them shelter.
Suhakam commissioner Datuk N. Siva Subramaniam said there must be a proper policy when bringing in foreign workers here.
He said there were many agents in Malaysia who tried to cheat foreign workers.
"The government has to find a strict policy to avoid such problems," he said, adding that some employers even moved the workers around the country, placing them at different jobs, yet failing to pay them.
