KOTA BARU: A retired cop wants the government to pay his pension which he claimed has not been paid for the last 10 years.
Syed Mahadzir Syed Abdullah, 59, who retired in 1998 on medical grounds, said he now supports his wife and a school-going child by painting portraits and writing articles for magazines.
"I do not know why my pension has been withheld and I am saddened as it causes great hardship to me and my family," he said here yesterday.
He said his last rank was that of inspector when he retired at 49, due to a heart condition while serving at Bukit Aman police headquarters.
He said he had been medically boarded out in 1978 when he was 29. But he sued for wrongful dismissal and was reinstated 15 years later.
Syed Mahadzir said he had met officers at Bukit Aman and some ministers to resolve the matter.
"Each time I go to Bukit Aman, I am told to be patient but till now I have not received my pension."
Meanwhile, a former senior officer of the General Operations Force claimed that he was sacked after he invited Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to breakfast two years ago.
The officer informed Nik Aziz of his problem several days ago and Nik Aziz said the officer claimed he has not received his pension.
GOF Southeast commander Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said he was aware of the case but refused to comment.
