LONDON: Manchester United officials have termed as premature press reports that star winger Cristiano Ronaldo will have to undergo surgery on his right ankle.
The reports said the Portugal international had no option but to go under the knife and that he would be out of action for up for six weeks in order to recover.
Manchester United, however, have issued a statement saying that no decision has been taken on how to proceed with the injury.
"Manchester United medical staff met with the medical team from the Portuguese FA and Cristiano Ronaldo in Lisbon today (Wednesday) regarding the ongoing treatment of his injured right ankle," the club statement said.
