MALAYSIA's bid to qualify for the 2011 Asian Cup is as good as over after they were drawn with Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India in Group C of the qualifying campaign yesterday.
Having been thoroughly embarrassed in last year's edition which Malaysia co-hosted, the national team are unlikely to find any redemption when the qualifiers start.
On paper, even India look formidable opponents and the FA of Malaysia must start work now in order to avoid another embarrassment.
In yesterday's draw, reigning champions Iraq, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, hosts Qatar and the champions of the 2008 and 2010 AFC Challenge Cup were exempted from qualifying.
Japan, Bahrain, Hong Kong and Yemen are in Group A, while Australia, Indonesia, Oman and Kuwait are in Group B. Group D will see Vietnam, China, Syria and Lebanon while
