Michael Wong (right) and Inner Mongolia singer Amguulan collaborate on a new song.
GUESS who has turned author? Charlene Choi (she of the now-hibernating Hong Kong pop duo Twins), recently came out with an autobiography entitled Single Parent Love.
Co-authored with her father, the book was a hit, with all 5,000 copies sold out just two days after its release. All proceeds went to charity.
Charlene, as you may have guessed, grew up in a single-parent environment from the time she was 12 but she doesn’t feel unhappy over it.
In fact, via the book, she shares her father’s experience as a single parent. But what should pique public interest is a picture of her first boyfriend whose face is, unfortunately, replaced with a cartoon character.
Charlene’s friends, including her Twins half, Gillian Chung, contributed some articles.
Incidentally, at the filming of her new movie Butterfly Lovers, Charlene impressed her fellow actors with her sewing skills.
Apparently, during one scene, she noticed a tear on her leading man’s clothes and immediately went about mending it for him.
In jest, the other actors later brought their torn clothes to her, wanting her to do more sewing. In fact, they also teased her about opening a sewing class.
OUR very own Michael Wong and Inner Mongolian singer Amguulan shot the music video for their new song, Beautiful Time, in Taiwan recently.
The song, composed by Wong, glorifies brotherhood and is included in his new album, Right Hand Side.
Wong will hold a special concert in Taipei on Nov 15, his final stop on his world tour.
FILIPINO celebrity icon Sharon Cuneta was honoured recently with a special documentary, Mega Tatlong Dekada, to celebrate her numerous contributions to the industry.
The two-hour documentary special chronicles her journey into showbusiness, focusing on the high and low points in her life.
Her unforgettable partnership with heartthrob Gabby Concepcion on such blockbuster films as Dear Heart, PS I Love You and My Only Love, which made them household names, are among the highlights.
JAPANESE actress Aya Sugimoto has taken off her clothes for sexy movies and photo shoots, but for the first time recently, she went naked for animal rights.
Holding a tiny sign reading, “Fur? I’d rather go naked”, Sugimoto, 40, posed in the buff before dozens of photographers and television cameras in one of the first Japanese campaigns by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta).
The actress, who is also a dancer and erotic novelist, stopped wearing fur two years ago on learning how some products were manufactured.
Sugimoto’s passion for animal rights has also resulted in her very own fake-fur fashion brand.
HONG Kong actress Carina Lau was non-committal when quizzed by reporters recently over rumours circulating that her best friend Faye Wong suffered a miscarriage recently. Worse, the talk around town is that her marriage is on the rocks.
Of the latter, Carina stressed that nothing was amiss with the marriage. On the matter of her alleged miscarriage, Carina only said that “as her friend, I will protect and support her”.
HAIR’S to more lucrative endorsements. Hong Kong actor Moses Chan has been named spokesperson for Svenson Hair Centres.
In a recently aired commercial, he is portrayed as the “king of songs”. Humorously set in the bath, Moses holds a shower hose as a microphone and he is quickly joined by many other people who start singing together.
How is this linked to hair replacement? Beats me. Perhaps they are singing with joy that such a product — one that truly works — is finally available to the public.
