SEREMBAN: Police shot dead four armed robbers high on the wanted list after a 15-minute car chase at Bukit Nenas near here yesterday morning.

The men were suspected to be involved in 24 cases of armed robbery in Negri Sembilan, Selangor and Malacca this year.

The shooting came after police spotted a Proton Satria, with four men inside, at the Enstek housing area at 6am. The car was being driven in a suspicious manner.

The men, believed to be Indonesians and in their 20s, were suspected to have been involved in a robbery at a house in Sungai Pelek, Sepang, before they came across the policemen in a car.

State police chief Datuk Osman Salleh said the policemen ordered them to stop but the vehicle instead sped off towards Seremban.
"The high-speed chase lasted 15 minutes and ended when the car driven by the robbers crashed into a divider near the Quality Alam Sdn Bhd office in Bukit Nenas.

"The robbers got out of the car and immediately tried to attack the policemen with parang and a crowbar.

"The policemen fired 10 shots in self-defence, killing all of them instantly," Osman told a press conference at the police headquarters here.

"The Proton Satria used by the robbers had false registration number plates and is believed to have been stolen in Tampoi, Johor Baru, in February."

There were no identification papers on the robbers.

Police seized the three parang and crowbar, and found two packets believed to contain syabu, as well as an Eramin 5 pill inside the trouser pockets of one of the robbers.

Osman said it was not confirmed if the robbers were under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.

"We will only know once we get the post-mortem results."

Osman said police also found a bag with a laptop, a digital camera, three mobile phones and jewellery believed to have been just stolen, along with pliers, screwdrivers and knives believed to have been used in their robberies.

"Most of the robberies took place around Seremban, La-bu, Mantin, Rasah Kemayan and Nilai."
