It is well known that Taiping has been a "Bandar Warisan" for more than 10 years.
In spite of this, some heritage buildings in the town have been pulled down because the stakeholders seem to have no knowledge of the heritage value of these buildings.
Although the Taiping Municipal Council is aware of what is happening in the town, no action has been taken to save Taiping's treasures.
About two years ago, a magnificent bungalow (picture) along Jalan Istana was pulled down; last year the only pagoda-shaped building (more than 100 years old) in the town was demolished.
The Taiping Heritage Society is very concerned that, in time to come, more buildings will be demolished.
