KUALA LUMPUR: After spending 20 months in a coma, a robbery victim died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday.

Lim Tze Jien was 18 when he was found unconscious near the Masjid Jamek LRT station on Sept 19, 2006. He was rushed to the hospital but remained comatose.

Lim was on his way home in Wangsa Maju when he was robbed and beaten. He was about to switch LRT trains when he was set upon.

A relative said Lim's family had accepted his death as fate.

"This is all fate. He was meant to be with God early. The doctors did all they could do."
Explaining what had happened two years ago, the relative said Lim managed to call his father to tell him to pick him up after the incident.

"He sounded really scared."

Lim's father tried to locate him but failed, prompting him to lodge a police report.

Police later told his father that his son, the youngest of three siblings, was warded at the hospital.

The relative said Lim was a smart boy and had scored 8As in his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.
