KANGAR: Police have arrested the eighth suspect in a case of a murdered labourer who was accused of being a Peeping Tom.
The 24-year-old self-employed man surrendered at the Kuala Perlis police station at 4.25pm on Saturday. He had been missing for almost a week.
State police chief Datuk Ghazali Mohd Amin said police were looking for two other suspects who could help with investigations.
The two men, aged 25 and 30, are "out of the district" and police are now tracing their whereabouts.
"We have advised relatives of the two suspects to help bring them in. That was how we succeeded in getting the eighth suspect," said Ghazali.
He said the two men, who had been missing since last Saturday's incident, could shed some light on the case.
It is learnt that the eighth suspect was among those who brutally attacked labourer Hatib Leman, 35, outside his Kampung Belakang Kilang home in Kuala Perlis.
In the May 3 incident, a group of about 20 men attacked Hatib after accusing him of breaking into a neighbour's house to peep on a 12-year-old girl.
The attackers also assaulted Hatib's wife Fazilah Mohamad, 34, who had given birth two months ago.
Hatib succumbed to internal injuries a few hours after being warded at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital, Kangar. Police arrested seven suspects hours after the incident.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 40, are being investigated for murder. If convicted, they face the mandatory death sentence.
