KUALA LUMPUR: Former MIC Youth chief S.A. Vignes-waran will not be allowed back into the party.
MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said Vigneswaran had lost the respect the party had given him.
"Whenever there were changes, as a good person, he should have thought of what to do next, which he didn't.
"He tried to intimidate everyone. But, we won't be afraid," Samy Vellu said after opening the MIC Wanita, Youth, Puteri and Putera wings' annual general assemblies yesterday.
This is the first time Samy Vellu has lashed out at Vig-neswaran after the latter quit the party on June 29 following disagreements with the party leadership over a directive for him to relinquish his Youth post as he had passed the age limit of 41.
Samy Vellu said Vignes-waran was only good at chairing meetings but failed to come up with programmes to handle the problems faced by Indian youths.
Following Vigneswaran's resignation, T. Mohan, who had stood on a Barisan Nasional ticket in the Batu Caves state constituency in the March 8 general election, was appointed as the wing's coordinator until elections next year.
Samy Vellu said he expected the new leadership to be better than the previous one.
He said Mohan must meet with youths who had strayed into the wrong path and bring them back into the fold.
On the fate of the MIC Youth Brigade, which was formed by Vigneswaran, Samy Vellu said the movement would continue to carry out activities.
However, its name would be changed as it "had been tarnished by some irresponsible people". "We will not take in people who fight in the party and act like gangsters."
Meanwhile, Mohan, in his speech, hit out at those who labelled him as a "yes man".
