MUAR: MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai has called on its members to support Datuk Ong Tee Keat for the party presidency in the October elections.
He said Ong, who is the vice-president and transport minister, had proven himself as a capable leader.
Liow, who is also the Health Minister, said Ong had performed well and should be given a chance to lead the party.
"As Ong has expressed his intention to contest the president's post, I urge Youth members to give him a chance to serve," he said at a meeting of MCA divisional leaders from Bakri, Muar, Pagoh and Ledang yesterday.
Liow said he would not seek re-election as the MCA Youth chief, but he may go for a higher post.
