GEORGE TOWN: A state domestic trade and consumer affairs department enforcement officer was charged at the Sessions Court here yesterday with causing serious injuries to a VCD peddler with a pistol.

Mohd Zabidi Hassan, 52, of Bukit Mertajam, claimed trial to injuring Yeoh Yey Jin, 21, during a routine operation in front of Cafe Goodall in Jalan Gottlieb about 9.15pm on Jan 13, 2005.



Judge Hadhariah Syed Ismail set the bail at RM3,000 in one surety and fixed mention on May 12.

The incident attracted wide publicity because two men, including Yeoh, sustained gun shot wounds.


The duo have since filed civil suits against the accused and the government.
