'Sarawak most loyal BN backer'

KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Datuk Seri Dr James Masing hit out at those who questioned the loyalty of members of parliament from the state Barisan Nasional.

"Sarawak is the most loyal supporter of the Barisan Nasional and this was shown during the last general election when it retained 30 out of 31 parliamentary seats," he said after launching the Harvest Village at The Spring Mall here yesterday.

Masing, who is also the state Land Development Minister, said not only the MPs were loyal, the people were very strong supporters of BN.

"The MP for Sri Gading Datuk Mohamad Aziz did not understand Sarawak when he accused us of being ungrateful to the BN. When we are angry and frustrated with the federal BN leadership over certain things, he should not accuse us of being disloyal.

"We are honest with our feelings, but he should never question our loyalty to the BN," he said, adding that the state BN had been very polite when it presented its requests to the federal leadership for consideration.
Masing said he did not think that Pakatan Rakyat would dare to approach the six MPs from PRS "because they are men of principle".

"The six MPs would not resort to jumping to the opposition, that I can assure you of their honesty."

On another matter, Masing said PRS was serious in wanting to merge with another state BN and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party.
