KUCHING: A 27-year-old police probationary inspector was arrested for graft at the police headquarters here on Thursday night.
The inspector, attached to Kuching Major Crimes division, who was picked up at 7.45pm, was believed to have solicited RM8,000 from a businessman to settle a robbery case.
However, no money was found on him when he was picked up by Anti-Corruption Agency officers.
State ACA director Mohamad Yusoff Akope said the policeman was released on RM10,000 bail after his statement was recorded.
Meanwhile, Kuching police chief Assistant Commissioner Wong Wai Loong said the officer was still performing his duties pending investigation.
