ENGKILILI: A 17-year-old student in a boarding school here, about two hours drive from Kuching, alleged rape by a teacher in the school library.

The teacher, in his late 30s, has been arrested.

State deputy CID chief Assistant Commissioner Zainuddin Zainal said: "We have recorded statements from both parties.

State education director Dr Julaihi Bujang told the New Straits Times: "This is now a criminal case, and we have no jurisdiction. But once he is released from remand, he will face a two-month suspension with pay.

"We will leave it to the courts to decide. If he is found guilty, he can say goodbye to his teaching career."
