PETALING JAYA: A syllabus on developing our brain power to its fullest potential is being drawn up by Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement (MMLM).
Lecturers and experts in mind mapping and other mental literacy skills would be contributing their expertise in drawing up the syllabus, said MMLM chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.
"We will approach the Education Ministry when the syllabus is ready. We will train teachers in the various techniques of improving mental literacy within a week.
"The ministry could then conduct a pilot project by selecting 10 secondary schools in the rural and urban areas," he said when announcing the Malaysia Festival of the Mind III which will be jointly organised by MMLM and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) from Aug 1 to Aug 2.
The festival is aimed at educating Malaysians about the human mind and its unlimited potential and ways of tapping into and developing one's brain power to the fullest.
Among the speakers for the public talks will be Tony Buzan, inventor of Mind Maps, mind philosopher Terry Winchester, Grand Master of Memory Nishant Kasibhatla and Professor Leonard Yong, inventor of the Leonard Personality Inventory.
The festival will be opened by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen.
Admission is free and there will also be exhibitions, mind games, memory demonstrations and sale of mental literacy related products.
MMLM, founded in July 2006, aims to introduce and promote various techniques and skills to improve mental literacy among Malaysians.
