KUCHING: An Education Service Commission senior officer pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court yesterday to two counts of corruption.

Ali Noruddin Boying, 49, a principal assistant director, was released on RM10,000 bail in two sureties pending hearing on Feb 2, next year.

On the first charge, he is alleged to have sought RM6,000 as commission from housewife Nur Fazilah Fauziah to approve her application to the release of the pension of her late adopted mother, Fauziah Nawawi, a teacher.

The offence was alleged to have been committed at about 6pm on May 5, last year, in front of a house at Bandar Samariang Baru, Santubong.

The second charge stated that he sought RM3,000 as commission from Nur Fazilah to approve her application for the release of her late adopted mother's pension at about 2.30pm on May 11, last year.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohammed Sinti represented the Anti-Corruption Agency while Ali Noruddin was represented by Abdul Rahman Hazmi before Sessions Court judge Amelati Parnell.
