2008/07/19Tennis: Blake struggles past Woong SunINDIANAPOLIS: James Blake had more trouble than expected in holding off South Korean qualifier Jun Woong Sun to post a 6-3, 7-5 win in the second round of the ATP Indianapolis Tennis Championships. "I shouldn't have had as much trouble as I did," said the number eight coming off of Roland Garros and Wimbledon second-round disappointments. "He made me work hard and gave me a scare." The American who will face a second straight Asian challenge when he plays a quarter-final against Taiwan's Lu Yen-Hsun. He compounded his success with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) victory over local Rajeev Ram. American Bobby Reynolds wrapped up a birthday win, turning 6-1, 6-1 over Colombian Alejandro Falla and plays Sam Querrey, who beat American compatriot Vincent Spadea 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, next. STANFORD (Calif): Swiss veteran Patty Schnyder continued her impressive march through the early rounds here, eliminating Russian Alisa Kleybanova 7-6 (10-8), 6-4 in the second round of the WTA Bank of the West Classic. With the win, Patty booked a quarter-final showdown with top-seeded American Serena Williams, who is 32-4 with three titles this year. Defending champion Anna Chakvetadze of Russia reached the quarters on Wednesday. The second seed will take on No 6 Marion Bartoli, who eliminated British qualifier Anne Keothavong 6-3, 1-6, 7-5, on Thursday. Australian Samantha Stosur upset third seed Vera Zvonereva 6-3, 6-2.
