TEN former World No Ones, including the United States' John McEnroe, Sweden's Mats Wilander and Chile's Marcelo Rios, are to square off in a new Ryder Cup-style event between America and Europe in Penang on Nov 14-16.

Team America will be represented by Australia's Roy Emerson (captain), Pete Sampras, McEnroe and Rios while Team Europe consist Romania's IIie Nastase (captain), Sweden's Bjorn Borg, Stefan Edberg and Wilander.

The fifth player of each team will be decided by the respective team captains soon.

The three-day event will consist eight singles and two doubles matches.

Edberg, in a phone conference, said it is a great honour for him to compete in the event.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I have been training consistently and also competing in friendly matches in Europe to prepare for the event," said the 42-year-old Edberg, who retired from competitive tennis a decade ago.
