THE University of Sydney, Australia has a new scholarship programme for international students who will be undertaking a PhD in any discipline.

There are up to 20 full tuition fee PhD scholarships per annum for international students across selected countries including Malaysia. A travel contribution towards a return international air fare will also be given to successful scholars.

The World Scholars programme represents an annual investment of more than AS$1.5 million (RM4.3 million).

It is established to provide opportunities for international research students, build research relationships with partner institutions overseas and promote international student diversity.

The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of research potential and academic merit.
Applications for the inaugural intake of this scholarship, for courses which begin in September 2009, are now open.
