WIPRO Limited, an Indian global information technology (IT) giant, will be conducting a massive campus recruitment exercise for its newly launched Global Service Management Centre (GMSC) in Cyberjaya.
Declining to divulge the number of graduates it requires from local campuses, Wipro will work closely with Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) to train and groom them in service delivery.
Wipro Infotech chief executive for professional services Thandava Murthy says campus recruitment is "our global initiative which we have been doing in all the countries we operate in".
"We believe the more Wipro hire local talents, the less attrition rates we face," says Wipro chief executive for business solution division and head (Asia Pacific and Middle East) Rajat Mathur.
Wipro is attempting to bring down the attrition rate to a single digit soon. In other words, for every 100 employees, approximately 16 leave and Wipro wants to bring that number to below 10.
To retain its talents, Wipro takes into account factors such as employee satisfaction, salary increase, job satisfaction, incentives, career management and improving skills, among others.
Next, Wipro will be making a concerted effort to transform talent at the campus level.
Fresh graduates will undergo training at GMSC.
The centre will cater to infrastructure and application management service requirements for customers across Asean, through a remote service delivery model.
The key services rendered from this centre will include management of the data centre, network, call centre technology and business service management; and managed security services and end-user support services.
GMSC will be the nerve centre for providing multilingual technical support to all Wipro's customers which come from vertical industries such as banking and finance, telecommunications, fast-moving consumer goods, retail and high IT intensive areas.
Its customers in Malaysia include Maxis Communications Bhd, Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd and and Takaful Malaysia Bhd.
