IF you are looking for employment, head for the National Career Fair 2008 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) from Oct 17 to 19.

At the fair, you will find more than 8,000 job vacancies offered by over 100 companies including Sime, Shell, CIMB, British American Tobacco, Huawei, Masterskill, SME Bank, MCIS Zurich, Astro, Perfisio and Roots Shoot and Fruits Asia Pacific.

Other companies at the fair include Petronas, ExxonMobil, Intel, Dell, IBM, Scope International, Bank Negara, Bank Rakyat, Scomi, MISC, Skali, AXA, Khazanah Nasional and HSBC.

Government-linked companies, public and private universities, Public Service Department, Labour Department, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and MERCY are also taking part in the fair.

Activities held during the three-day event include career exhibitions by major companies in the country, and walk-in and scheduled interviews.
There will be a career seminar which addresses the issue of communication, preparing a curriculum vitae (CV), handling an interview and grooming.

Another interesting activity is the entrepreneurial workshop organised by SME Bank, Technology Park Malaysia and Johor Corporation. This workshop is for those who are interested to set up their own businesses.

Participants also have the opportunity to attend career and motivational talks by prominent corporate and government figures, take psychometric analyses and emotional quotient inventories.

Bring along your CV in soft and hardcopy as well as the relevant certificates. For more information, visit www.ukm.my/ncc2008
