KUALA LUMPUR: The Enforcement Officers Union of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry wants the enforcement division be made a department.

Union president Rus Bakarurraini Shahfei said it's time for the division to make its own decisions.

"The public wants the enforcement division to effectively handle price hikes, supply shortages and other consumer issues. They blame enforcement officers without realising the constraints we face.

"We don't want to shirk our responsibilities, but whatever action taken has to follow rules based on the new structure of the ministry and the enforcement division." - Bernama
