KUALA LUMPUR: Barely a day after a woman was found with multiple stab wounds on her back near the police college in Cheras, the suspect has been apprehended - all because he defaulted on his vehicle loan payments.

The taxi driver from Kuala Kangsar was handed over to the police yesterday after car repossessors saw bloodstains in his taxi.

They found him in Jalan Pahang at 3pm and attempted to repossess the vehicle.

He tried to escape but with the help of several people, the repossessors managed to detain him and brought him back to the vehicle where they discovered the bloodstains.

The repossessors then handed him over to the police.
The suspect later led police to the recovery of the victim's credit cards, medical card and wallet.

He is believed to have stabbed Lee Hui Fun several times in the back during an argument and left her to die by the roadside.

She was found bleeding profusely by passers-by at 9.40am on Friday, and given first aid by policemen before being sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital.

It is understood that she underwent an operation there.

Lee, 33, who works as a clerk in Jalan Sultan Ismail, is still in a state of shock and has not been able to provide police with much information.

When met at the hospital yesterday, Lee's husband Chew Chee Ming said his wife would normally take a taxi from their home in Pandan Indah to the LRT station nearby.

From there, she would travel to her workplace in Jalan Sultan Ismail.

But on Friday, it turned out to be a different story when Chew received a call from his wife.

He overheard an argument between her and the taxi driver.

"She said that the taxi driver had taken her to Batu 9, Cheras, and asked me for help.

"I told her to get the registration number of the taxi.

"However, after giving me the registration number, the phone connection went dead and I could not get back in touch with her. I lodged a police report before going to look for her," said Chew.

He was later informed by police that his wife had been warded at the hospital.

He said he was grateful to those who had helped his wife after the attack.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner II Mazlan Mansor said police considered the case solved and thanked the public for their co-operation.
