KOTA BARU: Police rounded up 103 people, including a 23-year-old woman who took part in a "wild party" in Jalan Long Yunos, Tanjung Chat, here yesterday.

Kota Baru police chief ACP Zahruddin Abdullah said the Criminal Investigation Department raided the party at 5.30pm while they were dancing to the music played by musicians from Singapore and Johor Baru.

"The patrons, aged between 17 and 34, were taken to the Kota Baru police headquarters for questioning," he said at the scene.

Police were told earlier that some immoral activity was taking place at the premises involving local and outstation youths, including students.

"This is the second such party in Kelantan. The first was last month at a hotel involving male and female youths," Zahruddin said.
He said police were investigating the incident under Section 27 of the Police Act for holding an assembly without a permit.

One of the partygoers said he arrived from Kedah at 1pm.

He had been to three similar parties in Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan and Johor Baru after being informed about it through emails by the organiser.

The admission fee was RM15 per person, he said.

"I came to watch the band promote their album live," he said.

The woman picked up at the party said she came from Jertih, Terengganu, to bring three friends who wanted to attend the party.

"I am just a driver. Someone else was supposed to send them.

"But when the other person did not turn up, I became the substitute driver," she said. -- Bernama
