KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu palace is not conferring any state awards or medals in conjunction with the 46th birthday of Sultan Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin today.

State Secretary Datuk Mokhtar Nong confirmed that there would be no investiture ceremony, according to a letter he received from the palace.

"Whether the investiture ceremony will be held later, I am not sure," he said when met after Head of the Terengganu Regency Advisory Council Tengku Sri Panglima Raja Tengku Baderulzaman Sultan Mahmud gave away prizes at the end of the Jet Ski Asean Watercross Super Cup championships in Pantai Batu Burok yesterday.

Mokhtar said the tahlil recital and prayers would still be held at all mosques statewide from last night as well as at Istana Maziah today at noon.

He said the Sultan of Terengganu's birthday celebrations would be on a moderate scale this year. -- Bernama
