KUALA LUMPUR: The government and banks in the country must find new ways to help Bumiputeras.
This was among 33 resolutions passed by the Bumiputera Economic Convention 2008 to be included in the Bumiputera Economic Action Plan.
Besides that, the resolutions also called for support for private companies from government-linked companies, which should not compete with them.
Another resolution called for continued cooperation with the government, GLCs, Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera companies, associations and non-governmental organisations.
The resolution on the Mid-Term Review of the Ninth Malaysia Plan called for the government to continue pumping funds into the economy.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the government would study the resolutions in depth.
Najib also said "let not some minor setbacks in the implementation of the New Economic Policy lead to the rejection of its principles ."
He said it was not proper if the NEP only benefited a small group.
"We do not deny certain weaknesses... but we must not deny its success and achievements." -- Bernama
