SHAH ALAM: The misunderstanding between Kelana Jaya Member of Parliament Loh Gwo Burne and a fellow Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) member has been settled.
Both have apologised to each other following an argument which ended in the other PKR member punching Loh on Friday.
Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said both young leaders were overzealous and became emotional during the ground-breaking ceremony for a surau where the argument took place.
"They had a difference of opinion which got physical, but their misunderstanding has been settled."
Although Khalid did not mention who the other PKR member was, it is understood that it was Meor Azam Shah, special assistant to Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib, however, believes the fact that two members of PKR had fought was proof that cracks have formed in the party.
"There were prior incidents where we could see the party's disintegration.
"There were those who were not invited for discussions, those who felt sidelined, those trying to be more powerful (than others). We can see and sense this happening," he said after launching a one-day Islam Hadhari seminar titled "Islam Hadhari or Hadharah Islamiah" here yesterday.
Muhammad, who is also the rural and regional development minister, said the incident showed that PKR and the Pakatan Rakyat government had failed to control the situation as conflicts had escalated into fights.
"Such an incident never happened among Umno mem-bers."
Loh had gone to the site of the ground-breaking ceremony as some residents who objected to the project had voiced their concerns to him.
Policemen at the scene managed to control the situation after the punch was thrown.
Khalid said he did not think disciplinary action should be taken against the duo but would be leaving the matter in the hands of Kelana Jaya PKR chief Syed Shahir Syed Mohamud.
