IPOH: The five-hour workshop held at a school in Simpang Pulai may have changed 11-year-old Mohd Hafiz Mohd Nazir's eating habits.
"My mother told me that breakfast is important, but I ignored her advice.
"In this workshop, I've discovered why I'm sleepy in class and feel lethargic before recess," said the Year Five student of Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Bersatu at the NST-KoKo's Smart Start Camp here yesterday.
"When I don't eat anything in the morning, my sugar levels go down, and I don't have energy to pay attention in class."
Hafiz said he would eat wholemeal bread for breakfast and set a good example for his 9-year-old brother, Mohd Faris.
At the five-hour workshop organised by the New Straits Times and Nestle KoKo Krunch yesterday, some 150 primary school students participated in group activities using word mazes, quizzes and riddles to learn the importance of breakfast.
They designed a menu for balanced meals and were asked to create a comic strip using pictures found in newspapers and inserting dialogues related to the importance of eating well.
As a treat, the participants were each given a bowl of KoKo Krunch breakfast cereal.
