BEIJING Olympics chef-de-mission Datuk Ho Koh Chye believes, based on ranking, Malaysia have a good chance of smashing through the Great Wall of China for its first Olympic gold.

"We have a world ranked No 2 singles in Lee Chong Wei, and our doubles pair Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah are ranked No 4.

"The statistics are pretty good, and based on that, I believe a gold is within our reach," said Koh Chye after attending a sponsors' meeting with swimmer Daniel Bego and shooter Hasli Izwan in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The Malaysian contingent to Beijing is 33 athletes strong, and will be competing in 10 disciplines.

Meanwhile, eight Olympic-bound athletes have had their vision checked by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Malaysia.
Archers Cheng Chu Sian, Marbawi Sulaiman and Wan Khalmizan, diver Leong Mun Yee; shooter Hasli, swimmer Daniel and taekwondo exponents Che Chew Chan and Elaine Teo have undergone vision screening and received eye healthcare advise to help them be better prepared for the Olympics.
