THE Equestrian Association of Malaysia's (EAM) annual general meeting (AGM) has been postponed to January next year.
This decision was made by Sports Commissioner Datuk Nik Mahmud Nik Yusof to allow EAM to amend certain ambiguities in its constitution.
The association had on July 21 written to the Sports Commissioner's Office for an extension.
EAM secretary Lau Choo Seng said the association will amend the constitution mainly on election nominations to avoid disputes and confusion in the January's EGM.
On July 17, EAM president Datuk Seri Dr Jamaludin Jarjis had adjourned the AGM owing to disputes in the interpretation of nominations.
In the meeting, several delegates, including Datuk Abdul Razak Latif who offered himself for the president's post, disputed EAM's decision to reject candidates in the AGM.
Meanwhile, the Kelantan Royal Endurance Ride in Bachok on Aug 18-19 will be the avenue for local riders to qualify for the World Endurance Championships 160km race.
The world meet will be held at the Terengganu International Endurance Park in Lembah Bidong, Setiu on Nov 6-9.
At present, a total of 12 local riders, including Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, have qualified for the event.
Local riders need to obtain two Certificate of Capability before the Aug 21 deadline, set by the Federation Equestrian International (FEI).
