THE surprise visit by the prime minister at the KTM Komuter and LRT stations in the morning rush hour and taking a ride on the trains is an act that deserves to be copied not only by his ministers and deputy ministers, but also by mayors and heads of department. There is no better way to assess the level of service provided.

It should be mandatory for those in authority to leave their air-conditioned offices and go to the ground, instead of just chairing meetings and meeting officials.

If mayors take a walk in their cities and visit public toilets, I think we would see a great deal of improvement.

The people would be impressed and show their full appreciation.
