YEAR-END EXAM SCHEDULE: Give pupils of this school a break

SEKOLAH Kebangsaan Taman Bukit Subang in Shah Alam plans to hold the year-end examinations from Oct 22 to 29.

This means pupils will have to be back in school on the day following Deepavali (Oct 27) to continue with the exams. This is not fair to Hindu pupils.

Some parents, who approached the school administration on this issue, were told the matter had been overlooked and a rescheduling of the exams would be considered, but to date, nothing has been done.

We have had reports that the Malaysian Indian Congress president had called for a rescheduling of the exams and that the Education Department had asked all to reconsider the matter.

It appears that some schools have not bothered to heed the advice of their department heads.
We also note that another school in the same area has declared two additional days for this festival break.
