KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the arrest of the Perak Exco membersis not politically motivated.

"They (the ACA) know what they are doing. "When they see something is wrong, why wait?

"This is a matter for the ACA, not us (the government)," he said after chairing the National Water Resource Council meeting yesterday.

Abdullah said the ACA action is the end result of the government's decision to give the agency more bite.

"The ACA is quite active, and I'm happy we can see the end result of their activities.
"They have been conducting tighter monitoring and what has happened is a consequence of the developments in the ACA."
