BANDAR SERI ISKANDAR: A chemical engineer who obtained his bachelor's, master's and PhD degrees at Universiti Teknologi Petronas is among 1,088 graduates who will receive their scrolls at its 8th convocation ceremony here on Sunday.

Dr Chan Tuck Leong, 30, who is the first UTP student to achieve this unique feat, took just 12 years to complete his studies. All the graduates will receive their scrolls from UTP Chancellor Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the university's Chancellor Hall.

Of the total, 1,016 are undergraduates from various programmes including chemical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, business information systems, and information and communication technology.

The rest are postgraduates from petroleum engineering, petroleum geoscience, electrical and electronics engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and ICT.

The ceremony will be attended by the varsity's board of directors and Petronas management committee members including Petronas chairman Tan Sri (Dr) Mohd Hassan Marican, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of the university, and UTP rector cum chief executive officer Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Kasim.
In conjunction with the convocation, UTP will hold a three-day ConvoFair at the campus from tomorrow.
