SUBANG JAYA: Two suspects have been remanded in connection with the murder of Choo Teck Boon who was hacked in front of horrified diners at a restaurant here on Monday night.
The duo took Choo, 44, to the restaurant where he met the murderer. Choo was killed over a misunderstanding.
Choo's killer, who is believed to be in his 30s, is still at large.
Selangor police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the duo would be remanded for six days
The two were believed to be friends of the main suspect.
The victim's girlfriend, an Indonesian identified as Linda, related the events leading to Choo's death.
Linda, who had been dating Choo for more than a year, was having dinner with him at another eatery when her boyfriend received a text message.
"He showed me the message. It said: 'You are a dog. If you think you are not, you better meet me in SS14'."
Linda said she tried to dissuade him from meeting the sender.
"He was very upset with the text message and told me not to worry."
Shortly after replying to the SMS, two men came over and drove him to meet the caller.
About 9.30pm, diners in the SS14 restaurant recalled seeing Choo, the main suspect and the two men chatting.
Shortly afterwards, the four went outside and horrified diners reported seeing the main suspect hacking Choo with a parang.
Shamsuri Salem, 39, a nearby burger stall operator said Choo had no chance of surviving.
"Choo tried to escape but his assailants managed to catch him."
He died on the spot of severe head and body injuries. His body had been sent back to his home in Ayer Keroh.
