KUALA LUMPUR: Is Wanita MCA chief Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen eyeing the party presidency?
She has not stated her intentions to contest but it did not stop her from accepting congratulatory remarks from peers at a function here yesterday.
The women, family and community development minister was also all smiles when Women's Aid Organisation president Meera Samanther and Body Shop managing director Datin Mina Cheah-Foong encouraged her to run for the party's top post.
Dr Ng was attending the WAO and Body Shop's campaign on "Break the Silence on Domestic Violence".
In her speech, Dr Ng thanked them for their support but did not indicate if she was contesting.
Later, she declined to comment and would only touch on matters related to her ministry.
"I am not talking about politics today," she said firmly.
No woman has ever contested a post higher than that of central committee member in the MCA's 59-year history.
