SEBERANG JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is facing a sodomy charge, could not have seen Hospital Kuala Lumpur's medical report on him as it is with the police, Heath Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said yesterday.

Liow said even he had not seen the report which the Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser claimed to have been privy to, adding that it was a confidential document which had become part of a court case.

"Anwar's claim that he was privy to the medical report is not true. The report has not been leaked in any way," he said after a visit to Seberang Jaya Hospital here.

Anwar had told a press conference in Kubang Semang on Sunday that he had seen the report and what he claimed was a first report prepared by a private hospital, both of which allegedly absolved him of blame.

He had said that the reports showed there was no case against him.
Asked if it was possible that Anwar had been showed the document by someone working in the hospital, Liow said this was not possible.

On Chinese support in the by-election for Barisan Nasional candidate, Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah, Liow, who is also state MCA liaison committee chairman, said it was gaining momentum.



"We have gone on a house-to-house campaign and organised small ceramah.

"We are getting more support now," he said, expressing hope that the Chinese in the area will not be deceived by Anwar' promises.

The by-election will see a three-cornered fight involving Anwar, Arif Shah and Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malay-sia's Hanafi Hamat



Liow said Anwar was only using the by-election as a stepping stone to become the next prime minister.

"What the people want is someone who can serve them well. And to do that, they need a BN representative."
